On Turkey Letters
I’m sorry that Turkey has always been the target of Greeks who can’t accept the fact that Turks have been living there for the last 800 years and paranoid personalities like Oliver Stone who has presented a slanted view of the facts in his movie “Midnight Express.” But because these views have kept so many away from this wonderful country, it has unspoiled beaches, uncrowded towns and villages and genuinely friendly people who will do anything to help visitors when one gets to know them a bit. During my trips there, I found them proud of the history created by Greeks, not uptight about it. When I travel I want to enjoy places and people, not be bombarded by die-hard political views and prejudices that create conflicts among people.
