Caterpillar, Mitsubishi Forming Joint Venture: Caterpillar Inc. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. have agreed to form a joint venture to manufacture and distribute lift trucks, Caterpillar announced. The Japanese manufacturer will own 80% of the new company--Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift. The 20% Caterpillar share will be held by the Peoria, Ill.-based company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Caterpillar Industrial Inc. The venture will have local manufacturing and marketing centers for North and South America, Europe and Asia.
