TWA Gets Initial OK to Sell Routes: The U.S. Transportation Department gave tentative approval for Trans World Airlines to sell two London routes to USAir, but TWA pilots vowed to continue fighting the deal. USAir has agreed to pay $50 million for the routes linking Philadelphia and Baltimore with London’s Gatwick Airport. TWA, which is attempting to reorganize under the protection of federal bankruptcy laws, has said the sale would help it financially. Government approval would become final sometime in April.
