San Dimas : City to Fund Bowling Bid

Share

The city will give the San Gabriel Valley Men’s Bowling Assn. $2,000 to support its bid in bringing the 1994 state bowling championships to San Dimas and Diamond Bar.

The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved the allocation to help the group win the annual event, which is expected to attract 13,000 bowlers and spectators. City officials say the tournament would generate from $4,000 to $6,000 in hotel taxes and up to $3,000 in sales tax revenue for San Dimas.

The association estimated it will spend between $15,000 and $20,000 to send several delegates to Santa Maria in June to bid for the 18-week games, also sought by San Diego and Bakersfield.
