SOUTH COUNTY : Principals Shuffled by School District

Several schools in the Capistrano Unified School District will have new principals next fall, district officials announced this week.

District officials said principals are usually rotated to different schools every five years.

San Clemente High School Principal James Krembas will swap jobs with Shorecliffs Middle School Principal Christopher Cairns.

Several elementary school principals have also been reassigned. They are:

Dick Campbell, who moves from Viejo Elementary in Mission Viejo to Arroya Vista Elementary in Rancho Santa Margarita. He will be replaced by Joel Drew, who moves from Palisades Elementary in Capistrano Beach. Drew’s post, in turn, will be assumed by Terri Mullen, now principal of R.H. Dana Exceptional Needs Facility in Dana Point. Ellen Fine, principal at Bergeson Elementary in Laguna Niguel, will take over at R.H. Dana Elementary and R.H. Dana Exceptional Needs Facility.

Patricia Griggs will move from Moulton Elementary in Laguna Niguel to Benedict Elementary in San Clemente, and Benedict Principal John Hopkins will be transferred to a still-to-be-named new elementary school in Aliso Viejo. Dana Elementary Principal Doug Kramer will be reassigned to Las Palmas Model School in San Clemente, and Merle Smith from Castille Elementary in Mission Viejo will move to Moulton Elementary.

Linda Purrington, now principal at Las Palmas, will become coordinator of grants and projects at the district office.
