COUNTYWIDE : Community Center Director Honored

Irene Martinez, executive director of Santa Ana’s Delphi Community Center, has been named the 1992 Woman of the Year for the county’s 72nd Assembly District.
Recognized for her extensive community service, Martinez accepted the honor presented by Assemblyman Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove) at the state Capitol on Monday, said George Urch, a spokesman for Umberg.
The Delphi Community Center oversees several social service, health and education programs in Santa Ana. Martinez also serves as a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board in Santa Ana, the Santa Ana Police Hispanic Affairs Committee, the American Diabetes Assn. Advisory Committee and several other organizations. She is also the former president of the Mexican American Women’s National Assn.
