Dressing Up For Dinner

Designer table settings using Tiffany china and silver form the centerpiece for events this weekend in Rancho Santa Fe to benefit the Children’s Home Society.

The events, which begin Friday, will be at the Rancho Santa Fe Inn and at the Inn’s Garden Club, at the corner of La Granada and Avenida Acacias.

Twenty-five California designers have taken the theme “Off to the Movies” to create the table settings.

John Loring, design director of Tiffany & Co. and author of numerous books on Tiffany, will deliver a lecture and slide presentation entitled, “Entertaining From Four to Four Hundred,” at a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. Friday. Cost is $40 and includes a preview of the decorated tables at the Inn’s garden club. For reservations, call Sharri Woods at 756-3308.

The public may view the table settings from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets at the door are $15 for general admission and $12 for senior citizens.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, a bridal fashion show by Nordstrom will be held in the Inn’s garden area. The fashion show is included in the price of admission for the table settings. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Sue Bubnack at 943-8925.

All proceeds from this two-day event will benefit the Children’s Home Society, which serves needy children and families in California. For 31 years, the Rancho Santa Fe chapter, Las Duenas, has been a major fund-raiser for the society.
