Mississippi Beats Penn State, 75-72
No. 5 Mississippi advanced to Saturday’s final of the women’s NCAA Midwest Regional with a 75-72 victory over No. 9 Penn State Thursday night.
The Rebels trailed for much of the game, but took the lead, 73-72, on a three-point shot by Kim Gilchrist with 28 seconds to play.
Penn State’s Susan Robinson missed from under the basket with 14 seconds remaining. Jackie Martin rebounded the ball, was fouled and made two free throws to end the scoring.
Mississippi (29-2) was led by Clara Jackson’s 21 points.
Penn State finished 24-7.
