From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Defense lawyers attacked secretly recorded tapes and a turncoat mobster’s testimony as “a glorified frame-up” in arguing that jurors should acquit reputed mob boss John Gotti and his co-defendant. Gotti attorney Albert Krieger is expected to finish his summation Monday, and the jury could begin deliberations as soon as Monday afternoon. Both Gotti, 51, who prosecutors say heads the Gambino crime family, and his co-defendant and reputed second-in-command, Frank Locascio, 59, face life in prison if convicted in 1985 executions of then-Gambino boss Paul Castellano and his driver.
