From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Ford Announces Recalls: Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling 150,000 1989-91 model year Mustangs with 5.0-liter engines because of a wiring assembly that can inadvertently turn on the engine warning light. Owners will be asked to have part of a wiring harness replaced to fix the condition, if necessary. In California only, Ford is also recalling: 19,000 1988 and 1989 model year Escorts with 1.9-liter engines and manual transmissions for emissions problems; 18,000 1988 model year Taurus, Sable and Continental vehicles with 3.8-liter engines for emissions problems. Owners will be notified by mail, and the work will be done free.
