‘Cop Bowl’ Charity Game April10

Police officers from the South Bay will square off against rivals from Orange County in a football game for charity on April 10.

The 14th annual “Cop Bowl” will be at 7 p.m. at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa to benefit youth organizations and hospitals including Make-a-Wish Foundation, Orangewood Home for Children and Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Organizers hope to raise $200,000, spokesman Guy Dove said.

The Los Angeles team will be made up of officers from Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Hermosa Beach and Long Beach, along with some officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.

Police departments represented on the Orange County team include Brea, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Placentia and Santa Ana.

Tickets at $7 for adults, $5 for students and $20 per family are available at local police departments.
