NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STARS: The Los Angeles Public Library and schools are sponsoring celebrities who will read at “family story times” at the Central Library and 63 branches. For more information, call local branches or (213) 612-3320.
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP: For those who have experienced the death of a loved one, the “Grief to Growth” workshop and support group will begin sessions on Tuesday at the University of Judaism from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The fee is $80 for eight workshops. For more information, call (213) 476-9777, Ext. 215.
HEALTH FAIRS: Sponsored by the Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks Department, free health screening for blood pressure, vision and hearing problems, skin cancer, glaucoma and cataracts, as well as dental and orthopedic checkups will be offered at four sites: Tuesday, Lincoln Heights Senior Center, 2323 Workman St., Los Angeles, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, Mt. Carmel Recreation Center, 830 West 70th St., Los Angeles, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and North Hollywood Senior Center, 11430 Chandler Blvd., North Hollywood, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m; and Friday, Westminster Senior Center, 1234 Pacific Ave., Venice, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
