A Hefty Grant: WNET, the PBS station in New York, has received a $5-million grant from financier Henry Kravis and his wife, designer Carolyne Roehm, to create a multimedia center using TV and computers to teach schoolchildren. The grant is part of a $65-million capital campaign announced by WNET. To date, the station has commitments for more than $20 million. The aim of the campaign is to give WNET, a major producing station for PBS, a permanent endowment for planning and developing TV series as well as for maintaining facilities.
