La Mirada : 232 Homes, 25 Businesses to Get Beautification Awards
La Mirada will call attention to the city’s most attractive homes and businesses during the annual spring beautification contest. Volunteer judges from 13 community and service organizations will judge properties between April 20 and 27. A total of 232 homes and 25 businesses will be chosen for awards.
Winners will receive certificates at a July 9 reception at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. They also will receive free admission that night to the theater’s production of the musical “Anything Goes,” which will be playing at the theater then.
“All La Mirada residents and business owners may participate in this community tradition by taking a look at their home or business and begin painting, planting and making other efforts that will make their property a 1992 spring beautification winner,” Mayor Bob Chotiner said.
La Mirada started the beautification contest to encourage community aesthetics when it became a city 32 years ago.
