LAGUNA HILLS : Woman Is Flagged Down, Assaulted

Share

An 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted early Wednesday by a motorist who flagged her down and offered help after falsely telling her that a part had fallen from her car, authorities said.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Richard J. Olson said the woman told investigators that she was driving north on Alicia Parkway about 12:30 a.m. when she noticed that a driver was following her. The man, driving a BMW with a sunroof, pulled alongside, honked his horn and rolled down his window to yell a warning that her car had lost a part.

After they pulled both vehicles over on Moulton Parkway, the assailant got out, opened the victim’s unlocked passenger door and sat down, according to the woman’s account to police.

After briefly talking to her, he grabbed her around the neck and sexually assaulted her.

After the assault, Olson said, the woman got her assailant to get out of her vehicle by leading him to believe that she would follow him to his home.

She then eluded him on the road and drove to her Laguna Hills home, where she called friends, who contacted the Sheriff’s Department, Olson said.

The woman refused medical treatment, he said.
