The State Department said Friday that it is revoking the visas of 20 Haitian businessmen who have been financially backing leaders of last year’s coup in Haiti.

“Haitians who support the illegal regime . . . must know that their actions are not without consequences,” State Department spokeswoman Margaret Tutwiler said in a statement.

Citing immigration confidentiality laws, State Department officials refused to name the 20 businessmen they said were immediately affected by the announcement.
