Bruce Springsteen + Robert Hilburn = !%$?!

Share

Regarding “The Boss Feels Good,” by Robert Hilburn (March 29):

It was with great sadness and loss that I discovered while reading Hilburn’s review of Bruce Springsteen’s two new albums that Hilburn is apparently dead.

Fortunately, like many great musical artists who have been taken before their time, he has left us a legacy of unpublished reviews of Springsteen (and probably U2, Prince and Sting) albums that can be published posthumously in an “insert album title here” format.

While I am partial to Springsteen myself, I was relieved to discover that Hilburn was able to predict before his premature demise that these new albums would be a “gateway in Springsteen’s career and a significant step in the evolution of rock.”

Without digging through The Times’ archives, I’m sure I remember an identical summation by Hilburn of each of Springsteen’s prior albums.

Without meaning any disrespect for the deceased, since nobody else took Hilburn seriously, do the editors of Calendar?
