South Pasadena : Tree Fungus Investigated
Public works officials say they are investigating why three mature oak trees recently succumbed to a root fungus.
Weakened by the fungus, the trees became vulnerable to recent rains and winds and fell late last month. Two of the trees fell near historic structures and the third hit a parked car. No one was injured.
Public Works Director Jim Van Winkle said he hopes to determine how to stop the spread of the disease and prevent more trees from falling.
