COUNTYWIDE : Candidates Sought for Service Awards

The Ventura County Personnel Department is seeking nominations from the public of exemplary county employees to honor with the People’s Choice Award.

The Excellence in Public Service contest is part of the seventh annual national recognition week for 20 million public employees, co-sponsored by the Public Employees Roundtable, a coalition of management and professional groups, and the President’s Council on Management Improvement.

This is the second year that Ventura County will bestow a local People’s Choice Award. Public Service Recognition Week is scheduled for May 4-10.

“The purpose of the award is to promote excellence in county government by recognizing county employees who have demonstrated exemplary public service above and beyond the call of duty,” said Hui Ling Tanouye, a county personnel analyst.

Nominations may be made by sending a note to Tanouye with the name of the nominated employee, his or her department, the reason for the nomination, and the name and address of the person nominating them. Nominations should be mailed by April 20 to Tanouye’s attention at the Ventura County Personnel Department, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura 93009.

The county is also looking for civic and business groups who wish to donate awards, door prizes or refreshments. For further information, contact Tanouye at 654-2622.
