U.N. experts blew up two-thirds of the buildings targeted for destruction at a site at the heart of Iraq’s nuclear arms program Tuesday.

U.N. chief arms inspector Dimitri Perricos said the past week’s work has cut the heart out of the Iraqi nuclear program. He said his team blew up about two-thirds of the targeted thick-walled buildings at Al-Atheer, 25 miles south of Baghdad, on Monday and Tuesday and will leave the rest to another team expected in Iraq in mid-May.
