Brett Hull became the second player in NHL history to score 70 or more goals in three consecutive seasons and helped the St. Louis Blues finish the regular season with a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota North Stars Thursday night at St. Louis.

Hull and Wayne Gretzky, who did it from 1981-82 through 1984-85, are the only players to score 70 goals three seasons in a row.

Hull, who has led the league in goals all three seasons, scored 86 last season and 72 in 1989-90.

John Vanbiesbrouck extended his unbeaten streak to 8-0-1, and several of his teammates also reached individual milestones as the Rangers finished 50-25-5 for 105 points.

Vanbiesbrouck made 27 saves and may have earned a start in the Rangers’ playoff opener Sunday night against New Jersey.

Mike Gartner got his 500th assist, making him the first NHL player in history to record his 500th goal, 500th assist and 1,000th point while playing in his 1,000th game all in the same season.

Brian Leetch became the fifth defenseman in NHL history to reach the 100-point mark at 2:26 of the third period when he drilled a shot from the lower right circle into the net.
