No ‘Camping’: “Camping With Henry and Tom” has been bumped from the Pasadena Playhouse season for the second year in a row, with “extraordinary casting demands” cited as the reason by artistic director Paul Lazarus. It will be replaced by “Closer Than Ever,” the Richard Maltby Jr./David Shire revue, to be staged by Maltby, May 24-June 28, with a quartet including Gary Beach, Meg Bussert, Jason Workman and original New York cast member Sally Mayes. Another “Closer Than Ever” production played at International City Theatre in Long Beach earlier this year.
