Alaska Air Group Inc. reported that its first-quarter loss widened from a year earlier, citing higher operating expenses and a 10% decline in the passenger yield.

For the most recent quarter, the Seattle-based parent of Alaska Airlines posted a loss of $15.7 million, or $1.31 per share, up from last year’s first-quarter loss of $10.0 million, or 88 cents per share.
