COUNTYWIDE : Suspect Sought in 5 Bank Robberies
The FBI released a photograph Tuesday of the suspect in a string of five Ventura County bank robberies committed during the last three weeks.
The suspect’s image was captured on a surveillance camera during the April 13 robbery of a Bank of America branch in Santa Paula. That robbery culminated a series of western Ventura County bank heists allegedly committed by the suspect, beginning with the April 1 robbery of a Wells Fargo branch in Ventura.
Witnesses described the suspect as Hispanic, age 38 to 42, weighing about 175 pounds and standing about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was described as having a ruddy complexion, a mustache and prescription eyeglasses.
The robber may be armed. In approaching bank tellers, he presented a handwritten note claiming to have a weapon and demanding money, said Gary G. Auer, head of the FBI’s Ventura office.
Anyone able to identify the suspect is asked to call the Ventura FBI office at 642-3995 or the Ventura Police Department at 339-4400.
