CASTAIC : $20,000 OKd for Jail Visitor Center
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved spending $20,000 to improve and alter the design of a visitor registration center planned for the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho.
The Internal Services Department said the action will not make additional demands on the county’s general fund because the money will come from funds already set aside for other aspects of the proposed visitor center.
The center will provide a central reception area for visitors to the jail near Castaic.
The changes, requested by the county and the builder, include increased night lighting at the guardhouse to improve visibility, plumbing to the guardhouse for a possible restroom and additional bus loading areas.
