McNall Considers New Arena

Share

King owner Bruce McNall said Tuesday that he wants to explore with Forum and Laker owner Jerry Buss the possibility of building a new arena to replace the 25-year-old Forum.

The arena would be built in what is now the Forum parking lot at a cost of between $120 and $150 million. It would seat between 19,000 and 20,000 for both hockey and basketball. With a Forum capacity of 16,005, the Kings have sold every seat this season.

“We don’t have any other revenue sources to pay the increasing salaries,” McNall said.

Under McNall’s plan, the Forum would be torn down after completion of the new building.
