Filmmaker Bruce Brown, who made his 1966 surfing classic “Endless Summer” while living in Dana Point, is getting started on “Endless Summer 2.” Brown began filming in Costa Rica this week. Brown, now a Santa Barbara County resident who photographed, edited and narrated the original movie, is directing the sequel, being shot around the world. Surfing pros Robert (Wingnut) Weaver and Pat O’Connell star. The film is scheduled for release in 1994.

In the wake of Security Pacific Corp.’s official dissolution this week as part of its merger with BankAmerica Corp., the curator of the Security Pacific Gallery in Costa Mesa said the gallery’s future beyond August remains uncertain. Programming for the gallery has been set through summer, curator Mark Johnstone said Wednesday. After the current exhibit, “Telephone,” closes June 13, the gallery will display “The Home Show,” with work by artists who either employ or parody objects in the home, from June 27 to Aug. 22. An installation by Patrick Mohr and Craig Cree Stone will be shown concurrently in the gallery’s Project Room.
