SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : Lakers, Kings Playoff Games and NFL Draft

Playoffs will be the feature attraction on a busy sports television weekend, with NBA games on three outlets and Game 5 of the Kings-Edmonton Oilers NHL Smythe Division semifinal series Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on Prime Ticket. Also, the NFL draft and Dodgers and Angels baseball can be seen on Sunday.

Pro Basketball: The Lakers will look to even their best-of-five Western Conference quarterfinal series with the Portland Trail Blazers today at 12:30 p.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39. The first game of NBC’s doubleheader will match the Indiana Pacers-Boston Celtics at 10 a.m. Also, cable’s TNT will air the Golden State Warriors-Seattle SuperSonics game today at 3 p.m., followed by the New Jersey Nets-Cleveland Cavaliers game at 5:30.

On Sunday, the Clippers will visit the Utah Jazz at 4 p.m. on KCOP Channel 13 and TNT. NBC, in a second doubleheader, will cover the Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat game at 10 a.m., and the Detroit Pistons-New York Knicks contest at 12:30 p.m. TNT’s second game at 6:30 will match the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns.

Pro Football: ESPN will begin its 5 1/2-hour coverage of the NFL draft Sunday at 8 a.m. The draft telecast will end at 1:30 p.m. to allow ESPN to continue its telecasts of the America’s Cup challenger and defender finals.

Baseball: In a rarity, Sunday’s Dodgers and Angels games will be telecast at the same time. The Dodgers will visit the San Francisco Giants on KTTV Channel 11 at 1 p.m., and the Angels will play host to the Seattle Mariners on SportsChannel.

CBS (Channel 2 and 8) will air the Oakland Athletics-Minnesota Twins game today at 10 a.m. ESPN’s Sunday game at 5 p.m. will feature the Kansas City Royals vs. Toronto Blue Jays.
