Key Questions Unanswered at McDonnell Douglas Meeting: President Gerald A. Johnston, responding to a shareholder question at the aerospace firm’s annual meeting in St. Louis, said he could not say if fuel leak problems with the C-17 military cargo jet, built in Long Beach, had been “permanently corrected.” Directors also wouldn’t supply specifics on the status of the company’s proposed MD-12 wide-body jet. Shareholders defeated a measure requiring the firm to provide detailed information on foreign military sales. Proponents were critical of McDonnell’s push to sell F-15 fighters to Saudi Arabia as a way of preserving U.S. jobs.
