BURDEN OF BEASTS

In March, I almost died from a combination of asthma and pneumonia. I survived partly because of the tireless efforts of medical researchers who, over the years, have developed lifesaving procedures obtained through animal research. That another human would consider a pig’s life more valuable than mine I find repugnant and unconscionable. We must not mistreat the lower animals, but we do need such research.
