Outrage Over King Verdict
Your article (April 30) about incidents in the wake of the King verdict did not tell the whole story. Your article says, “Downtown, a racially mixed group of protesters massed outside Parker Center, eventually hurling rocks and setting fire to a small kiosk.” It took the comments of Willie Williams, police chief-designate from Philadelphia, Thursday morning for the whole truth to be told.
The truth is that there were hundreds of peaceful protesters at Parker Center of all ethnicities and walks of life demonstrating side by side for more than three hours before the violence broke out. And even then, demonstrators urged that “the violence stops here.” Responsible reporting means complete reporting.
