BANJO FIDDLE CONTEST: The 32nd Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. today at Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills. Take the Kanan Road exit off the Ventura Freeway south to Cornell Road. Follow the road to the Paramount Ranch sign.

CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE: Four finalists for the presidency of Cal State Northridge will spend the week on campus, meeting with faculty, students and staff. The Cal State University Board of Trustees is expected to select a new president by the end of the month. CSUN President James W. Cleary is retiring June 30.

TRANSPORTATION: The Antelope Valley Transit Authority will hold a hearing Tuesday to discuss possible fare hikes for bus service in the high desert. The hearing is 10 a.m. in Lancaster City Hall.
