Supplying U.S. Arms to Iraq

Your headline reads: “Saudi Arms Link to Iraq Allowed” (April 18) and the lead sentence reads: “The Bush and Ronald Reagan administrations secretly allowed Saudi Arabia to provide American-made weapons to the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein and other nations over a period of almost 10 years in covert (read Bob Gates) operations designed to sidestep legal restrictions imposed by Congress.”

My God, how could this slip by the House and Senate Select Intelligence Committees for 10 years? Not a month or two, but 10 years! Is it any wonder Hussein thought that he was on the Reagan/Bush team and could butcher his people with impunity? Has the CIA simply become the American version of Hitler’s SS? And just what the hell are those bastards doing in Washington, anyway--besides, of course, stealing the public blind?

It’s clear to me that we don’t need a voter revolution in this country. We need a guillotine. And might I be so humble as to suggest we start with George. (I would have suggested that we begin with Ronald, but the law in California requires the “capacity to understand.”)
