College Cuts
I read (“University Considering Harsh Budget Measures,” April 25) that Cal State Northridge proposes to eliminate many academic majors for which there are fewer than 40 undergraduates students or fewer than 10 graduate students.
It is very disturbing that the majors of Chicano studies, Afro-American studies and women’s studies are exempt from the possible cuts. Once again we see a cowardly college administration caving in to the vociferous pressures of the “politically correct” movement. The criteria should be applied fairly across the board without respect to their sacred cows.
