2nd Quarter Profit Fell 26%, Santa Ana’s Microsemi Reports

Microsemi Corp., a Santa Ana high-tech company, reported a 26% decline in profit for its second fiscal quarter, earning $594,000, or 8 cents a share, compared to $806,000, or 10 cents a share, for the same period in 1991. Gains from operating loss carry-forwards of $197,000 for the 1992 period and of $244,000 for the 1991 period were included. Revenue for the quarter ended March 29 was up 2% to $20.6 million from $20.1 million. For the first half of fiscal 1992, earnings dropped 46% to $889,000, or 12 cents a share, from $1.6 million, or 21 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue showed a slight increase to $40.1 million from $39.6 million. The company said the results for the first half of fiscal 1992 included losses of $637,000 from subsidiaries that were reflected as a portion of discontinued businesses last year.
