Lintas Wins $40-Million Hughes Account: The Los Angeles office of the ad agency Lintas: Campbell-Ewald has won the estimated $40-million advertising and marketing account for DirecTV, a direct satellite broadcast service from Los Angeles-based Hughes Communications Inc. The DirecTV service, which will beam over 100 TV channels into homes that have special 18-inch satellite receivers, is scheduled to start in early 1994. Trade and consumer advertising for the system is scheduled to begin in late 1993. Although the agency has begun to add staff to handle the business, most additional staffing will take place in 1993 and 1994.
