CASTAIC : Funds Added in Jail Laundry Expansion

Share

By a unanimous vote, Los Angeles County supervisors on Tuesday approved spending another $108,320 on expansion of the laundry at the County Jail near Castaic.

Supervisors had agreed in April, 1991, to expand the laundry at Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho at a cost of $1.2 million. The expansion was to include a linen-folding area.

However, the conveyor system that transports clean and dirty laundry around the plant was not part of the plans because of engineering obstacles that have since been addressed.

Under the contract approved Tuesday, Merco Construction Engineers Inc. of Camarillo will extend the conveyor system into the addition.
