2 at Pomona College Get Rockefeller Grants
Jennifer Cortez and Patricia Garcia, psychology majors at Pomona College, are among 25 students nationwide to receive Rockefeller Brothers Fund fellowships to encourage minorities to become teachers.
Selection was based on academic performance, communication skills and a commitment to public service.
Fellows will be awarded up to $18,000 from their junior year in college until they begin public school teaching. They will also receive stipends for summer teaching projects, full-time graduate work in education and student loan repayment.
