Ford Recalls 700,000 Station Wagons: Ford said it is recalling its 1986-1992 model Taurus and Sable station wagons to replace a latch assembly that contributed to the death of a 5-year-old girl last year. A Ford spokeswoman said the girl became trapped in a small storage compartment in the rear of the station wagon while she was playing in the car unattended. The compartment has a latch design that cannot be opened from inside. Ford said it has received 11 reports that young children have locked themselves in the compartment.
