An X-ray technician who was working at Coronado Hospital was convicted Friday of five felony counts of sexually assaulting two female patients.

Oscar Figueroa, 34, was convicted of three counts of felony sexual battery and two counts of rape with a foreign object after an eight-day trial.

A sentencing date has not been set, but Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia Atwill said Figueroa could receive a maximum sentence of 14 years in state prison.

“I am extremely pleased by the verdict, especially because it involved the health-care profession, and people need to feel safe when they go for treatment,” Atwill said.

Atwill said Figueroa was a “predator” who placed stickers on the breasts of two victims without any medical reason.

Figueroa, who was an employee of the the Registry in Oceanside, testified in the trial and denied any wrongdoing in the November incidents.

Atwill reported that Figueroa learned how to be an X-ray technician while serving a state prison sentence for burglary.
