Former County Players Earn First-Team Honors
Four former Orange County baseball players were named first-team All-West Coast Conference.
Pitcher Steve Montgomery (Fountain Valley High), outfielder Chris Sheff (Laguna Hills) and catcher Scott Vollmer (Irvine), who play for Pepperdine, were selected to the first team. First baseman Anthony Napolitano (Los Alamitos), who plays for Loyola Marymount, was also chosen to the first team.
Mark Wasikowski (Los Alamitos) of Pepperdine and Mike Seal (Irvine) of Loyola Marymount were named to the second team.
Montgomery, a first-team All-American last season, finished 8-2 with six saves. Sheff hit .337 with nine home runs and 34 runs batted in. Vollmer hit .309 with three home runs and 24 RBIs. Wasikowski hit .325 with four home runs and 29 RBIs.
Pepperdine (40-10-1) won the conference championship and is ranked fourth by Collegiate Baseball and fifth by Baseball America.
