A Way to Get Traffic to Flow

Share

Your article “More Delays Just Around the Corner” on April 13 offers some hope that traffic in the Valley will be improved. On the day the article appeared, I traveled west on Sherman Way at about 4:45 p.m. I counted five cars in the tow-away curb lane, all with tickets and still impeding traffic. Traffic movement could be improved today if the city would tow away illegally parked vehicles.

If officials made a serious attempt to synchronize traffic signals between the Hollywood Freeway and Sepulveda Boulevard, they could reduce traffic congestion even more. I defy them to find progressive signals at the posted speed limit for westbound Magnolia, Chandler, Oxnard and Victory boulevards without stopping at Woodman, Hazeltine, Van Nuys and Kester.

Synchronized signals will reduce congestion, delay and air pollution.
