Proposal to Limit Liquor Licenses
As a Korean-American and a relative of liquor store owners, I am upset by a possible hardship that would be caused by local government this time. For the store owners who lost everything but have to struggle to live in this country, first they have to make up their minds to stay or leave. But to my dismay, we are too confused and devastated to make a life-affecting decision right now.
At this moment local politicians seek to find a way to strike a blow against already suffering people. If they really believe in correcting social injustice and problems by reducing the number of liquor stores, that means that they don’t stand on the right platform. This is not the time to push drowned people back in the water. I am strongly against any proposal to require the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to obtain approval from local officials before issuing a license.
