Greg LeMond added a rare domestic chapter to his list of cycling championships Sunday, winning the overall title in the Tour Du Pont.

LeMond, 30, of Wayzata, Minn., was third in the final, 11th stage individual time trial. He completed the 14-mile course in Washington’s Capital District in 29 minutes 59 seconds to defeat Norwegian “Z” teammate Atle Kvalsvoll by 20 seconds and New Zealand’s Stephen Swart by 28 seconds.

LeMond, who claimed his first stage race title in his native country since 1985 and first victory since his third Tour de France title in 1990, earned $50,000.
