Angel update--After losing two of three games at Boston, the Angels move on to New York for the middle three games of their nine-game trip. The Angels were 15 for 91 in the first three games of the trip, reducing the team batting average to .256 from .265. They are 6-12 when they score three runs or fewer. Catcher Lance Parrish (bone spurs in his right elbow) is eligible for activation off the disabled list this week. Tuesday, Bert Blyleven, who underwent surgery on his right rotator cuff in April of 1991, will make his first start since Aug. 10, 1990.

Yankee update--They lost six consecutive games--including two against the Angels at Anaheim Stadium--before winning three in a row. The last of those three was in the opener of a three-game home series against the Oakland Athletics as Scott Kamieniecki scored his first victory since July 18. Kamieniecki, who will start against the Angels on Wednesday, underwent surgery on a cervical disk in October. The Yankees’ Mel Hall drove in four runs during an 11-2 victory over the A’s Sunday, giving him 29 RBIs. Infielder Mike Gallego, signed as a free agent last winter, drove in a run in his first game since returning from a rehabilitation assignment.
