Camera Platforms Reduces Quarterly Loss

Camera Platforms International Inc. cut its loss nearly in half in its first quarter, to $246,000, compared with a loss of $480,000 for the same period a year ago.
The Valencia maker of movie and television production equipment said revenue for the three months ended March 31 increased by 24%, to $848,000 from $682,000 a year earlier.
Keith M. Gillum, president and chief operating officer, attributed the increase in revenue to stronger sales of its Lightmaker product line. But camera rentals, he said, were negatively affected by concerns over an actors’ strike.
