Lynwood : Street Name to Be Changed in Honor of Slain Deputy
- Share via
The Lynwood Traffic and Parking Board has approved a street name change to commemorate Sheriff’s Deputy Nelson H. Yamamoto, 26, who was slain last month during a shootout in Walnut Park.
Yamamoto Street, which is currently called Enterprise Place, is in an industrial area near South Alameda Street and Imperial Highway. The name change will take effect when the Lynwood Regional Justice Center is completed at that site in 1994.
The new center will combine the Firestone sheriff’s substation, where Yamamoto worked, and the Lynwood substation, as well as a pre-arraignment court, an inmate facility and space for the district attorney’s and public defender’s offices.
