Pop Album Chart : Black Crowes Debut at No. 1

Share

Kris Kross’ “Totally Krossed Out” got crossed out of the top spot of Billboard magazine’s pop album chart by the Black Crowes’ second album, “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion,” which debuted at No. 1. But the hard-rocking Crowes might not be there too long. Since Kross’ monster hit single “Jump”--No. 1 on the pop chart for the sixth straight week--is keeping the album hot, it could easily reclaim No. 1. Lofty debuts: the Indigo Girls’ “Rites of Passage” (No. 21) and Annie Lennox’s “Diva” (No. 33).

* Summer is the season for heavy-metal albums. Iron Maiden is kicking off the season with “Fear of the Dark,” which entered the chart at No. 12.
