A 25-year-old motorcyclist who tried to outrace police was killed in San Ysidro Thursday night when he hit a utility pole support wire, San Diego police said.
Timothy Scott Minor died when he hit the wire on Monument Road, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Minor and a passenger were stopped for speeding on Monument Road near Dairy Mart Road about 10 p.m., Robinson said.
When the officer left his vehicle, Minor sped off, leaving his passenger behind, and police pursued, Robinson said.
The officer attempted CPR, but Minor was pronounced dead by a LifeFlight crew about 10:30 p.m.
