Suspect Arrested in Fatal Beating
Police arrested a Corona man Friday in the death of a 36-year-old man who was found robbed and beaten on the Riverside Freeway last month.
Jorge Eduardo Marroquin of Corona died of severe head injuries suffered April 18, when he was robbed and left for dead on the freeway west of Coal Canyon. He was found lying next to his car, which had broken down.
Officers arrested Joel Ramirez Aguilera, 30, and said the suspect “was connected to the robbery and murder by property belonging to the victim, as well as other physical evidence.” Police would not elaborate further.
Police also questioned Aguilera’s brother, Mike Jesus Renteria, 21, then released him.
Aguilera is being held in Orange County Jail. The investigation is continuing.
